Meditative Moments
Natalie Clein
, solo cello

Tuesday 17 March at 7.30pm - The School Chapel, Birkenhead School

J.S. Bach Suite for cello in G
J.S. Bach Suite for cello in C
Kodaly Sonata for solo cello

Cellist Natalie Clein won the Classical Brit Award for Young British Performer in 2005 and became BBC Young Musician of the Year (aged 16) in 1994. In the atmospheric Victorian surroundings of the School Chapel, she plays two of Bach’s cello suites; among the finest examples of music for any unaccompanied instrument. Meditative, inventive and playful, these profound works explore the rich tradition of Baroque dance forms. Kodaly’s Sonata is characterised by intense expression and extreme virtuosity. Suffused with wild Hungarian dance-rhythms, it exploits the full poetical potential of this most soulful of instruments.

Tickets £15.00, U21s half-price
